ARLINGTON, Texas – Tarleton State’s
Lauren Roy and
Prestina Ochonogor have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, for the competition week ending on Sunday, Feb. 1.
Roy, a senior, claimed two top-two finishes, set a pair of marks that ranked inside the top-15 of NCAA D-I and broke a WAC record at Texas Tech’s Stan Scott Invite. Roy won the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.89, breaking the WAC record of 23.46 seconds that was last set in 2024. Roy is currently only one of four athletes in the nation to run a sub-23 second 200-meter dash this season. Roy also clocked a 7.23 second 60-meter dash for a runner-up finish in the meet and tied for 15
th-best time in the nation. Roy outran competitors from USC, Ohio State, UCF, Minnesota and Texas Tech in the meet.
Ochonogor, a sophomore, won the long jump event at Oklahoma’s JD Martin Invitational with a WAC-best mark of 6.40 meters. Ochonogor’s mark is currently ranked 15
th in NCAA D-I.
