ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Tech’s Kinley Pappas and California Baptist’s Miranda De Nava have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for the game week ending on Sunday, Mar. 22.
 
Pappas, a sophomore catcher/infielder, notched multiple hits in all for Utah Tech games last week, compiling an .818 batting average while driving in seven RBIs and scoring five runs after going 9-for-11 at the plate. Six of Pappas’ nine hits were for extra-bases, recording one home run, two triples and three doubles on the week. Pappas went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored in an 8-6 victory over Utah Valley. Pappas leads the WAC with a .469 season batting average, ranking 38^th best in the nation.
 
De Nava, a sophomore right-handed pitcher, tossed two complete seven-inning games last week against Southern Utah, securing a pair of wins for California Baptist. De Nava threw a two-hit shutout in the first game of the Friday double-header, striking out eight Thunderbirds in a 2-0 victory. De Nava held Southern Utah to just three runs in the Saturday matchup, finishing the week with a 1.50 ERA. De Nava leads the league in complete games (7), innings pitched (105.0), shutouts (3), strikeouts (92) and walks allowed per seven innings (1.67).
