ARLINGTON, Texas – California Baptist’s Ernesto Ruiz and Southern Utah’s Bronis MacDougall have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, for the competition period between March 13 and 22.
Ruiz, a junior from Riverside, won the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Aztec Coastal Classic in San Diego with a time of 8:51.53. That’s the best time in the WAC and the fastest time in the NCAA this season.
MacDougall, a senior from Kingston, Ontario, Canada, won the Javelin throw at the Utah Tech Invitational with a toss of 66.16 meters (217’1”). MacDougall’s mark is currently the best in the WAC and ranks 16th in the country.
