ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington’s Alex Kalmar and Southern Utah’s Bronis MacDougall have been named the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, for the competition period between April 30 and May 4.
Kalmar, a junior from Temecula, Calif., won the 800-meter run at the SMU Invitational in Dallas, with a time of 1:46.55. That’s the best time in the WAC this season and the 30th fastest time in the NCAA. That time is also a new school record.
MacDougall, a senior from Kingston, Ontario, Canada, placed first in the javelin throw with a toss of 72.08m (236’6”), at the SUU Collegiate Championships in Cedar City, Utah. That is the best throw in the WAC this season and 20th best in the country. This is MacDougall’s third Field Athlete of the Week award this season.
