North Alabama Sweeps Women’s Soccer Weekly Awards

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The United Athletic Conference (UAC) has announced its weekly award winners for Women’s Soccer for Monday, August 24.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
Player of the Week:
Anna Fugarino, North Alabama
Fugarino earned a brace after scoring both goals in North Alabama’s 2-0 victory against Tennessee Tech on Sunday. The junior forward totaled four points with a perfect 1.000 percent hit rate. While she carried the Lions to a win on Sunday, she helped add precision passing on Wednesday as she helped lead the Lions to a 6-1 win over Union and tallied an assist.

Defensive Player of the Week: Avery Smith, North Alabama
Smith totaled 164 of the 180 minutes of matches played this week. The right back led the team to two wins and helped the defense to push off 10 total shots between the matches while allowing only nine on target. She was a major proponent of stalling opposing offenses while helping the Lions earn two goals as she tallied one assist in each game this week.
