JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The United Athletic Conference (UAC) has announced its weekly award winners for Women’s Soccer and Volleyball for Monday, August 31.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Player of the Week: Charlotte Sobotka, North Alabama
Sobotka earned her first goal of the season with the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute against Southeast Missouri in the Lions' 2-1 victory on Sunday. Sobotka helped lead the Lions to an undefeated month of August and has the Lions on a three-game winning streak heading into September.
Defensive Player of the Week: Gracie Kelly, Abilene Christian
Kelly played an entire 90 minutes in each of Abilene Christian's clean sheets last week, which included a draw against Houston on Thursday. Kelly recorded an assist in ACU's Sunday victory over East Texas A&M and held the Lions to just three shots on goal.
Goalkeeper of the Week: Bella Medrano, Abilene Christian
Medrano posted two clean sheets last week for ACU including an eight-save shutout against Houston. She also tallied three saves against East Texas A&M. Medrano leads the UAC in goals against average (0.41), save percentage (.923) and total shutouts (2).
VOLLEYBALL
Player of the Week: Emilee Hill, EKU
Hill was two kills shy in the Colonels' season-opening win over South Florida from beginning the 2026 season with back-to-back triple-doubles. Hill notched 32 assists, 12 digs and eight kills against the Bulls on Friday and collected 27 assists, 15 kills and 11 digs for a triple-double in the EKU victory over Utah State on Saturday.
Setter of the Week: Kinslee McGowan, North Alabama
McGown totaled 100 assists over a three-match weekend where the Lions swept all three contests. McGowan led the UAC with 11.11 assists per set in the volleyball opening week.
Defensive Player of the Week: Ava Martindale, North Alabama
Martindale accumulated 51 digs across a trio of three-set matches for North Alabama for a league-high 5.67 digs per set. Martindale posted a .968 reception percentage with only one reception error last weekend.
Freshman of the Week: Skyler Perez, Little Rock
In her first weekend as a collegiate student-athlete, Perez earned the libero jersey for Little Rock and compiled 51 digs throughout three competitions, winning all three matches as the defensive centerpiece. Perez was named to the Jambayala Jam All-Tournament team after averaging 4.64 digs per set with a conference-high 22 digs (within a three-set match) against Louisiana Tech on Sunday.
