DENVER – Sam Houston was selected as the favorite to win the 2022 Western Athletic Conference men's golf title in the vote of the league's head coaches, who could not vote for their own team.
The Bearkats received 10 of 11 possible first-place votes to finish with 100 total points. Grand Canyon was second, garnering the final two first-place votes and totaling 84 points. Defending champion NM State was picked third with 74 points, just one point ahead of Lamar University. Abilene Christian was fifth with 66 points, followed by Utah Valley, Seattle U, UT Rio Grande Valley, Stephen F. Austin and Chicago State.
