2023 WAC VB Release Week 7

GRAND CANYON RUNNING AN EFFECTIVE OFFENSE
 
Grand Canyon is No. 13 in the NCAA in team hitting percentage at .285. WAC Setter of the Week Klaire Mitchell led the Lopes to a .405 team hitting clip this week alone. Tatum Parrott is the leading scorer for Grand Canyon with 207 total kills and a .307 hitting percentage on the season. 

CALIFORNIA BAPTIST SECURES LONGEST D1 WINNING STREAK
California Baptist secured its longest winning streak in its D1 era with its eigth straight in a 3-1 win over Tarleton State. The win also marked head coach Branden Higa’s 200th career win. He became the second coach in program history to achieve the mark. 

ORTIZ REMAINS INSANE 
Izabella Ortiz
of Stephen F. Austin earned back-to-back WAC Player of the Week after dominating both sides of the ball this past weekend. In sweeps against Utah Valley and Seattle U, Ortiz recorded 19 kills on a .630 hitting clip and 11 blocks. 

KILLS ON TOP OF KILLS 
UT Arlington leads the WAC and ranks 10th in the nation in kills per set with 14.07. The Mavericks currently have four players that have over two plus kills per set this season. Brianna Ford leads the team with 208 kills and 3.78 k/s. Briana Brown average 2.96 k/s, Jalie Tritt has 2.92 and Paige Reagor with 2.39.  

WE LOVE A FIVE-SET THRILLER 
Abilene Christian snapped California Baptist’s eight-game winning streak in a five-set thriller on Sept. 30. Bryley Steinhilber led the Wildcats with a career-high 25 kills. Madeline Guffy had 49 assists, while Andie Sheppard recorded 19 digs.
