UAC Volleyball Preview - Oct. 27

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., - The United Athletic Conference (UAC) highlights the Volleyball upcoming competition for the week of October 27.

Abilene Christian heads to Arkansas for a pair of matches against Central Arkansas and Little Rock. The Wildcats claimed two wins last week to climb into a three-way tie for second place in the conference standings at 7-3.

Austin Peay is looking to return to the win column as the Governors head to West Georgia to begin the week followed by a home match versus UT Arlington.

Central Arkansas was rolling on a five-match winning streak before running into EKU last Saturday as the Bears are now part of the three-way tie for second in the UAC. The Bears can clinch their spot into the conference tournament this Tuesday with a win at Little Rock. UCA will also square off with ACU for the first time this season on Saturday.

EKU has secured its ticket to the UAC tournament after winning its program-record 15th straight match, the third-longest active winning streak in the country. The Colonels have won the last nine matches in sweeping fashion, claiming the last 29 consecutive sets dating back to Sept. 24. EKU finishes a four-match homestand with UTA before heading to North Alabama.

Little Rock snapped a four-match losing skid with a 3-2 victory against Austin Peay last Saturday and will look to keep the momentum going with a three-match homestand coming up, starting with Central Arkansas and Abilene Christian this week.

North Alabama completes the trifecta in the second-place standings tie with ACU and UCA as the Lions head into the week with a 7-3 UAC record. The Lions go into the week looking for redemption as they'll square off with Tarleton State and EKU who both beat the Lions in the first matchups this season.

The Texans hit the road for one final regular-season road trip starting off at North Alabama followed by West Georgia. Tarleton State looks to move up from the middle of the UAC standings and get back above a .500 conference record.

UT Arlington continues to hold the final spot into the UAC tournament at sixth place in the standings but will look to create some buffer as the Mavericks will head to EKU and Austin Peay.

West Georgia has an opportunity to return to the win column with a pair of home matches this week versus Austin Peay and Tarleton State.
