ARLINGTON, Texas – UTRGV’s Claudia Lupescu, Grand Canyon’s Klaire Mitchell and UTRGV’s Kiaraliz Perez have been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Volleyball Player, Setter and Libero of the week, for the final match week ending on Monday, Nov. 13.   
 
Lupescu, a junior outside hitter, was electric to lead UTRGV to a pair of wins over Tarleton State and Abilene Christian, averaging 4.38 kills per set with a .329 hitting percentage over the weekend. On Thursday in a tough 3-1 battle against Tarleton State, Lupescu notched a career-high 23 kills on a whopping .444 hitting percentage, also recording nine digs in the effort. She followed that up with a double-double on Saturday against ACU, notching 12 kills, 10 digs and a career-high tying five blocks (two solo).
 
Mitchell, a graduate student setter, recorded 71 assists and 10.14 assists per set to guide Grand Canyon to a .281 team hitting percentage on the week. On Thursday, Mitchell recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 44 assists and 15 digs. In a 3-1 win over UTA, she tallied 27 assists and four blocks. Mitchell also chipped in a total of seven blocks, six kills and four aces on the weekend.
 
Perez, a junior libero, anchored an impressive UTRGV defensive effort to help the Vaqueros pick up wins over Tarleton State and Abilene Christian. She totaled 43 digs over the weekend, averaging an outstanding 6.14 digs per set. Perez tallied 21 digs, three assists and one kill against Tarleton State and had 22 digs and one assist through three sets against Abilene Christian. Perez leads the conference averaging 4.30 digs per set.
