ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington’s Brianna Ford and Mollie Blank, and Utah Valley’s Lani Matavao have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Volleyball Player, Setter, and Libero of the week, for the match week ending on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
 
Ford, a graduate outside hitter, secured her third player of the week honor in the month of October and her fourth of the year following UT Arlington’s fifth straight sweep. Ford collected 19 kills against Grand Canyon, the most kills in a three-set match for the WAC this season and recorded a .615 hitting percentage (16-0-26) against Utah Tech, the second highest attack percentage in a match for the WAC this year. In the weekend, Ford totaled 35 kills (5.83/set), a .429 hitting percentage, 22 digs, 10 blocks, and 6.67 points per set. Ford is now top ten in the nation in points per set (7^th, 5.53) and kills per set (9^th, 4.69).
 
Blank, a graduate setter, helped UT Arlington to the highest team kill percentage in a two-game span for the Mavericks this season with a .381 percentage in their sweeps against GCU and UTU. Blank tallied 75 assists (12.5/set) along with 16 digs, two kills, and two blocks. Blank is 11^th in the country in assists per set (10.88) and is averaging a WAC-best 11.82 assists per set in conference play.
 
Matavao, a sophomore libero, helped lead the Utah Valley defense to victory against Abilene Christian and California Baptist with 40 total digs (5/set). Matavao had a season-high of seven assists while adding 22 digs in UVU’s five-set win over CBU.
