ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington, the champions of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Volleyball Tournament and regular season, received the conference’s automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Tournament and will take on No. 6 USC on Thursday, December 5th at 4 p.m. CT. Utah Valley will participate in the 2024 Women’s National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) and will face Washington State on Thursday, December 5th at 6 p.m. ET.
UT Arlington (29-2) won its first WAC Volleyball Championship after a remarkable 3-2 comeback victory against Grand Canyon in front of the home crowd. The Mavericks were placed in the top right quadrant and will battle No. 6 USC (21-9) in the first round on Dec. 5 at 4 p.m. in the Gregory Gymnasium located at the UT – Austin campus. The winner will advance to play the winner of No. 3 Texas and Texas A&M – Corpus Christi. The Mavericks are entering their ninth NCAA Volleyball Tournament on a 20-game winning streak.
Utah Valley (20-10) received an at-large berth for the 2024 Postseason NIVC and will be one of 29 teams that will fight for the NIVC title. The Wolverines will take on Washington State (16-11) in Round 1 on Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. ET. The winner of this match will face the winner of Wyoming and Idaho State. Wyoming will be the host site for the first two rounds. This will be Utah Valley’s second appearance in the NIVC (2018) and third appearance in a postseason tournament (NCAA, 2020-21) as a WAC member.
USC will be one of nine Big Ten teams to participate in the 2024 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Tournament and will make its third consecutive postseason appearance in the national tournament. The Women of Troy finished the regular season 21-9 overall and 13-7 in the Big Ten.
Washington State will make its ninth consecutive postseason appearance and second appearance in the NIVC. The Cougars concluded the regular season 16-11 overall and 11-7 in the WCC.
The 2024 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship will be held at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky and will take place Sunday, December 22 at 3 p.m. ET. The championship match of the NIVC Tournament is scheduled between Dec. 15 – 18 and will be held on campus by a host site.
