ARLINGTON, Texas – UTRGV’s Javier Neira Garcia has been named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men’s Golfer of the Week for the tournament week ending on Wednesday, March 27.

Neira Garcia, a senior, helped lead the Vaqueros to a team title defense as the host of The Big Texan on March 25-26 at the Riverhill Country Club in Kerrville. On the par-72, 7,137-yard track, Neira Garcia compiled rounds of 69-72-64 to shoot 11-under-par 205 in a four-stroke individual victory. Neira Garcia led the field with a blistering 4.25 (-9) scoring average on par-5 holes at Riverhill Country Club and was second in overall birdies (14) and eagles (2) for the week.
