2024 WAC VB Release Week 3

UT ARLINGTON SWEEPING THE COMPETITION
The Mavericks are off to a hot start this season, being the only undefeated team left in the WAC at 6-0. They’ve established their dominance by sweeping their opponents in five out of the six wins. Brianna Ford and Paige Reagor have been the dynamic duo for UTA as Ford leads the WAC in points per set (5.22) and kills per set (4.50) and Reagor holds the best hitting percentage at .429.
 
SOUTHERN UTAH DOMINATES HOME TOURNAMENT
Southern Utah rebounded from a winless opening tournament to sweep UC Riverside and Idaho twice for an undefeated weekend on their home court. Andrea Spasojevic accumulated 33 kills in nine sets for a .354 hitting percentage. Teniyah Leuluai totaled 82 assists on the weekend, including a double-double against UC Riverside with 31 assists and 10 digs.
 
KENNEDI KNUDSEN COLLECTS SECOND STRAIGHT TOURNAMENT MVP
Utah Tech’s Kennedi Knudsen goes back-to-back and takes her second MVP honor in the second week of play, this week in the Gonzaga Tournament. Knudsen tallied 31 kills, 15 digs, two blocks, and an ace in eight sets. Utah Tech went 2-0 on the weekend, picking up wins against Cal State Fullerton (3-0) and Gonzaga (3-2). The Trailblazers are off to their first 4-1 start since 2018.
 
MADELINE GUFFY REACHES 1,500 CAREER ASSISTS
Last week in their match against UIW, Abilene Christian’s Madeline Guffy recorded a season-high 36 assists and became the third Wildcat in ACU’s Division I era to reach the 1,500 career assists milestone. Totaling 511 assists in 2022, 916 in 2023, and currently at 123 six games into 2024, Guffy sits third all-time in career assists at ACU.
 
BUSY WEEK ON DECK FOR WAC VOLLEYBALL
In week three, the conference will see a total of 30 volleyball matches in five days between the nine squads. Each team will play at least three games except for Seattle U who will play one home and one away game each against Portland. UT Arlington will cap off the week with their toughest opponent yet as they will travel across DFW to battle #25 TCU on Tuesday, September 17.
