ARLINGTON, Texas – Utah Valley’s Bella Wooden and Evalyn Chism and Utah Tech’s Mya Laufiso have been named the Jersey Mike’s A Sub Above Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Volleyball Player, Setter, and Libero of the week, for the match week ending on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
 
Wooden, a junior middle blocker, led Utah Valley to a 3-1 record this week with 35 kills (2.50/set), 20 blocks (1.42/set), eight aces, and four digs while averaging 3.82 points per set and a .375 hitting percentage. Wooden had one of the best offensive nights the WAC has seen so far this season when she totaled 11 kills on 13 attempts for a hitting percentage of .769 against Boston College, the second-best percentage in UVU history. She also added five block assists in the Wolverine sweep against the ACC foe. Wooden notched a career-high of six aces in UVU’s sweep against Jacksonville. Wooden leads the WAC and is eighth in the nation in blocks per set with 1.57.
 
Chism, a sophomore setter, is now three-for-three in the weekly honors after collecting three double-doubles this week, two coming against major conference opponents. Chism tallied 38 assists and 10 digs against Boston College, 41 assists and 10 digs at Georgia, and 53 assists (career-high) and 11 digs versus Weber State. Over the week, Chism recorded 161 assists (11.71/set), 36 digs (2.57/set), 11 blocks, and five aces. Chism continues to lead the WAC and has moved up to eighth in the country in assists per set with 11.71.
 
Laufiso, a sophomore libero, totaled 46 digs (3.83/set) at the College of Charleston Invitational. Laufiso led the Trailblazers with 20 digs against Middle Tennessee, added 16 digs against the home-team Charleston, and collected ten more versus Robert Morris. Laufiso also notched 12 assists and four aces in the invitational.
