JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The United Athletic Conference (UAC) has announced its weekly award winners for Women’s Soccer and Volleyball for Monday, September 14.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Player of the Week: Jessica Baires, Tarleton State
Baires recorded four points in Tarleton State’s lone match on the week, a 4-0 shutout at Prairie View A&M on Friday. Baires was involved in three of the Texans’ four goals on the night, recording one goal and two assists.
Defensive Player of the Week: Audrey Coppinger, Abilene Christian
Coppinger played a full 90 minutes in ACU's 0-0 shutout draw at Incarnate Word on Sunday and held the Cardinals to six shots on goal.
Goalkeeper of the Week: Megan Waskiewicz, Austin Peay
Waskiewicz earned her first win and shutout of her career in Austin Peay's 1-0 victory over UT Martin on Thursday. Waskiewicz corralled seven saves in the match and helped the Govs to their first win and shutout since October 20, 2024.
VOLLEYBALL
Player of the Week: Hannah Gonzalez, Abilene Christian
Gonzalez led the UAC last week in points (4.65), kills (3.80) and blocks (1.30) per set while accumulating a .425 hitting percentage over three matches. Gonzalez logged a .750 hitting percentage after recording 21 kills and zero errors on 28 total attempts against Oral Roberts on Friday, the best single-game hitting percentage in the nation this season (of those with more than 20 total attacks). She then notched a career-high nine total blocks to go along with 14 kills and a .480 hitting percentage in ACU's second win against Oral Roberts of the weekend on Saturday.
Setter Pair of the Week: Cooper Abney & Emilee Hill, EKU
The Colonel setter pair of Abney and Hill combined for 9.59 assists per set after going 2-1 last weekend against three teams ranked inside the NCAA RPI top-50 at the end of last season: James Madison, Pepperdine and Western Kentucky. The duo notched at least 37 assists in each match, highlighted by 39 combined assists in a three-set battle with Pepperdine.
Defensive Player of the Week: Brennan Ramirez, Abilene Christian
Ramirez totaled 50 digs across the weekened for Abilene Christian and posted back-to-back matches of 6.00 digs per set in a pair of victories over Oral Roberts. Ramirez's 24 digs on Friday was the most in a four-set match throughout the UAC last week.
Freshman of the Week: Brooke McCall, West Georgia
McCall led West Georiga to a 2-1 weekend with double-digit kills in all three matches, averaging 3.33 kills per set. McCall tallied 15 kills in a five-set match with Mercer on Saturday and 14 kills in the Wolves' win over Gardner-Webb. McCall currently ranks third in the UAC in points (3.66) kills (3.44) per set this season.
